This early homestead is presently the headquarters of the
Mayfield Historical Society and Museum. It was
built by Oliver Rice, a veteran of the American Revolution
and remained in the Rice family until the society opened the
home for various public events each year.
LOCATION: This marker is located on the old Route
30 road or now called Riceville Road. The back of the home
is visible from the west side of Route 30. Leave Route 30 at
the intersection with Second Avenue (west,) then turn onto
Riceville Road. The marker is in front of the home.
